The holder of this position is primarily responsible for modeling and solving problems related to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using StarCCM+ software. The CFD engineer is part of a specialized team in numerical simulation. Working mostly for external clients, the consulting engineer contributes to highly diversified projects in various sectors. They are considered an expert in their field and are expected to demonstrate a high level of autonomy and professionalism.
You will be responsible for:
- Acting as a consulting engineer for external clients in the field of fluid dynamics numerical simulation.
- Performing numerical modeling (meshing and analysis) using existing tools (StarCCM+, OpenFoam, LS-Dyna).
- Preparing 3D geometries for numerical analysis using 3D modelers (NX, CatiaV5, SolidWorks).
- Performing hand calculations (aerodynamic loading, boundary conditions, material resistance, heat transfer, pressure losses, porous volume, component sizing, etc.).
- Writing analysis reports, summarizing, communicating, and advising clients on necessary modifications.
Your projects will involve:
- Participating in the development of various products by optimizing fluid flow functions, heat management, aerodynamics, and hydrodynamics.
- Working closely with other Finite Element and Fluid Dynamics Engineers to validate calculation assumptions and recommendations made to clients.
- Collaborating closely with technicians, designers, and designers on design projects.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
You will feel at home if you:
- Hold a bachelor's or, preferably, a master's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Have 3 years of applied experience in computational fluid dynamics.
- Have concrete experience with StarCCM+ software.
- Have in-depth knowledge of fluid flow, aerodynamics, and heat transfer.
- Have knowledge of explosion and shock wave propagation (an asset).
- Know and master one or more 3D design software such as CatiaV5, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.
- Have a good analytical and synthesis spirit as well as problem-solving skills.
- Can communicate perfectly in both French and English.
