As technical product manager, your main responsibility is to manage the products and/or markets under your responsibility in accordance with the following three objectives:

1. Promote and improve products already on the market
2. Develop and market new products or applications in the organization’s product development plan
3. Research new ideas for products, accessories, applications, or markets that could be integrated in the organization’s product development plan.

Role and Responsabilities

• Establish, present, and manage the annual product line plan in cooperation with the technical product manager to ensure that sales targets are met for the products under your responsibility
• Help the technical product manager carry out product line plan activities
• Recommend marketing initiatives (communications, marketing campaigns, etc.) in various territories to boost sales of the products/markets under your responsibility
• Take responsibility for product positioning and messaging in communications and marketing materials
• Help the marketing team develop sales tools and written content
• Play an active role in product discontinuation processes in cooperation with Operations, Technical Support, and R&D teams
• Oversee the collection and sharing of market information from various sources (internal, clients, competition, prospects, and other market stakeholders) on target markets so as to serve as the “voice of users” in the organization
• Identify and support the development of new markets as well as applications for your products/markets
• Contribute to improving products under your responsibility
• Play an active role in developing new products in cooperation with R&D (positioning, client benefits, client needs, and use cases for drafting project specifications)
• Oversee monitoring of gating processes for products in development under your responsibility (set dates, update tracking files, keep department informed)
• Play a leadership role in product launches for the products under your responsibility (event, marketing, communications, and promotion)
• Identify new ideas for products, applications, or markets and present them to the technology committee
• Draw up a 3- to 5-year road map for the products/markets under your responsibility and present it to the technology committee
• Give sales and technical presentations at target events around the world as wll as webinars

Requirements

• Three to five years’ experience in product management or in a similar position
• University-level training or relevant experience in one of the following technical fields: Engineering, science, or industrial design
• Aptitude and a keen interest in marketing and product management
• Ability to work and make decisions in a complex environment
• Bilingual (English and French)
• Willingness to travel abroad regularly (up to about 25% of the time)
• Independence, drive, entrepreneurial spirit
